Rest assured with your neighborhood HVAC Experts.
As a homeowner, you need to make sure that all of your home’s systems are working properly. Your AC system is going to be no different. From time to time you may experience issues with it, so it is important to take a close look at the system and make sure that everything is running properly. If you are experiencing further problems, then you will need to ensure that it is not about to break down. There are a couple of signs that will clearly tell you whether or not your system is about to suffer a malfunction. If you experience any of these, then call someone immediately.
Noise
Your system is going to make some noise when it is in heavy use, depending on how old it is. However, if your AC starts to make strange noises even when it is set to a low level, then you may have a problem. There could be an issue with the machine, so you will need to make sure that it is not going to cause further problems. Problems like this are usually caused by the fan belt. In this instance, it is a good idea to call on a professional who will be able to take a look at it and see if it can be repaired.
Slow to Cool
If your system does not cool as fast as it normally does, then you could be on the way to a break down. In cases like this, you will usually be running out of coolant. If this is the case, then fixing it is not normally going to be a problem. All you will have to do is get more. Other causes can include the system having rusted components. This is usually where you will have to replace those parts so, again, you will need to call on an expert who will be able to carry out this task for you.
Low or Weak Air Flow
The air flow in your system is important. You need to have a good, strong flow of air so that it works properly and cools the room the way you want. If the air flow starts to weaken, then this is a good sign that the system may be about to give up. The first thing that you need to do here is to make sure that you look at the filters. Sometimes, the filters themselves may just be clogged up. Damaged blowers could also be a problem that you will need to sort out as soon as possible.
Age
If you experience a mixture of the previous issues, then this could simply be due to the age of your machine. Over time, the components in your machine are going to end up rusting and you are going to have to get an entirely new system. This is completely normal. Most people will only be able to keep their system going for about a decade or so before they have to get a new one.
