Rest assured with your neighborhood HVAC Experts.
Do you find that you need to get some ductwork done on your home? That’s not a bad idea, because having the proper ductwork is critical to having the air conditioner working correctly and for saving on your energy bill. This also has a positive effect on your family, because it is going to reduce the level of toxins and pollutants in the air.
This is not a do-it-yourself project. Instead, you are going to call an AC professional who is going to come in and evaluate your duct system and implement a solution. You may or may not know who to call, but obviously some of them are better than others. What you’re looking for is the repair person to do certain things.
So what are they?
May sure he goes into every appropriate area of the house, which includes all crawl spaces, the garage and the attic to look at every aspect of your ductwork. If there is a fault in any of your ducts, it could legitimately come from anywhere.
Some of the ducts may be crushed or disfigured in some way. The AC person has to be able to repair any of the ducts that are damaged in any way. This is one of the most critical parts of the whole process.
Since ducts not only deliver air into the home environment but also return air to the outside, you have to have the return ducts working properly. What AC professionals find is that sometimes the return air ducts are lacking. This is an absolute no-no, and has to be corrected. So you want to make sure that situation is indeed, corrected, if it exists.
All grills have to be sealed very firmly and snugly to the all the ducts. This is also one of those things where, if it is not done the right way, defeats the purpose of what you are doing.
Any leaks in the duct system must be sealed. Somebody who is experienced in ductwork should know this automatically.
Check for “back drafting” of gases that may emit form the use of appliances. This is something a lot of home owners don’t really count on, but is a key symptom of a duct system that is not properly sealed.
Make a complete evaluation of the flow of air, both in and out of the home, when the job is completed. Many of the top-shelf HVAC contractors have a 100% satisfaction guarantee involving their work. Hey, this is part of it!
